TYPES OF DOCUMENTS
TEFL / TESOL Certificates
TEFL Certificate - Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
TESOL Certificate - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
Although there is a technical distinction between these two terms, they are widely used interchangeably. Therefore, either Certification will meet certification requirements most schools have in hiring English language teachers, to teach English as a foreign language.
You will need to get a TEFL / TESOL Certificate(s) Apostilled if you are planning to teach English in a foreign country. Schools hiring English language teachers, often require teachers to have a TEFL Certificate to be certified to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
Before we can process your TEFL / TESOL Certifcate to be Apostilled, the issuing school must be located in the United States of America and must attest to the validity of the certificate(s) by either:
- Notarizing the original TEFL / TESOL Certificate (preferred)
- Notarizing a color copy of the TEFL / TESOL Certificate
A TEFL / TESOL Certificate can only be Apostilled in the State the document was signed and notarized in.
In addition to having your TEFL / TESOL Certificate Apostilled to teach English in a foreign country, most foreign employers will also ask you to Apostille your Degree and Background Check.
PLEASE NOTE - in order to obtain an Apostille for a TEFL / TESOL Certificate the school certifying you must be located in the United States and the Certificate must be signed and notarized by the school.
Obtaining an Apostille can be a complicated process and should not be left to someone who does not understand all of the steps involved. Untrained persons that do not understand all of the requirements for legalization in each country are more likely to make errors, which will severely delay the Apostille process and cost you more money.
Once the English TEFL / TESOL Certificate is properly prepared you can mail it to us to be Apostilled. We can also provide Certified Translation Services into the language required by the Country of Designation.
